MISSION PROJECTS
The ultimate goal of Encontrandome con Cristo Guatemala Mission is to eliminate poverty in the indigenous regions of Guatemala by providing sources of self-sustainable living, education, health, and hygiene. To achieve this objective missionaries from our organization complete a variety of projects that contribute to the betterment of indigenous peoples and their lifestyles in the areas of Estancia Grande, Jalapa, and Santa Maria Cahabon, Guatemala.
Water Collection
& Filtration Systems
Solar Power
La Mision Encontrandome con Cristo provides life-saving water to the less fortunate by installing water collection and filtration systems in remote Guatemala. In many villages, the installment of these apparatuses liberates villagers from hours of hiking spent retrieving water everyday. This illumination of hiking time provides indigenous peoples with several more hours of time for farming and tending to livestock, which is crucial to their survival and success as a community.
By providing water filtration containers, our poor brothers and sisters are protected from common sicknesses that are known to not only to hinder a communities' prosperity, but kill almost 5,000 children a day worldwide.
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" Matthew 5: 14-16
Encontrandome con Cristo Guatemala Mission serves as a literal light in the dark for our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Guatemala. In each village that we visit, every household is provided with solar panels that give battery power and lighting to people who have never had free access to electricity before. By making this commodity available to indigenous peoples, the use of chargeable cellphones is now available to them, and children can complete their studies in the night.
Ventilated Stoves
Wood burning stoves with chimneys are installed in the homes of villagers in order to ventilated smoke out of the home. Before the installation of these stoves, most indigenous communities are accustomed to cooking over fires within their homes. With the installation of these ventilated stoves, the respiratory health of "indigenas" Guatemalans is improved.
Washing Stations/ "Pilas"
Based on project requests from villages in the area of Santa Maria Cahabon, Guatemala, Encontrandome con Cristo Mission has recently adopted the new project of installing washing stations at the homes of villagers. These washing stations can be used to clean several different reusable items that belong to indigenous peoples ; and this project promotes our mission of promoting hygiene among poor communities.
